December 2021 - USA IB Academic Tour
The Cleveland District State
High School tour to the USA 2021 represents
a unique opportunity to learn on the world stage. Meeting with industry
experts, going behind the scenes of global organisations and exploring
potential future pathways will be an eye opening and inspirational experience
for the students.
The Tour
Following on from the incredible success of our first two
IB USA Tours in 2017 and 2019, we will continue to offer this opportunity to IB
and academic (University bound) students in Years 9, 10 and 11 (2020) to
develop their knowledge and understanding of the world as they grow as global
citizens.
The students are provided with the chance to interact
with staff and students from three prestigious Universities and learn about
study abroad options in the tertiary sector.
They will also immerse themselves in the rich cultural,
historical and scientific landmarks and experiences that abound in New York,
Washington DC, Los Angeles and Orlando.
This tour is fully escorted with a professional guide
and three senior school staff members.
Accommodation is provided in Hostels in NYC and Washington DC (these
were awesome, safe and clean!) and twin share accommodation for the rest of our
destinations.
Who Gets to Go?
This
is an International Baccalaureate tour for students studying the IB Diploma
Programme or students with a strong
academic record and an interest in pursuing University study in Australia or
abroad. Therefore, places are limited and available only to students from years
9, 10 & 11 in 2020 for those interested in the 2021 Tour.
Students should be aware that to be a part of this IB/Academic
Tour you need to make a significant commitment to:
- Attend lunchtime meetings as required over the 18
months of preparation.
- Commit to involvement in whole group fundraising
activities at school.
- Commit to some out of school time whole group
fundraising.
- Always work to the best of your ability in all of
your IB and ATAR subjects.
- Maintain an excellent behavioural record.
The Cost
The total cost of this tour will be between $6000 and
$6500 per student. The final cost will depend on the strength of the Australian
dollar at point of final payment in 2021. This will include a staff content
ratio of 1:8.

Information Evening
To provide you
and your student with more information and to answer any questions you may
have, please come along to an information meeting at Cleveland High – in T4 in
the Language Building on Russell Street – Wednesday 4 March starting at 6pm.
During this
meeting I will give a short presentation and you will have the opportunity to
ask all your questions and pick up additional information and the official
application form!
