Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Requirements

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) supports the delivery of 21st century learning. BYOD requires students to use their personally owned laptops to access the school's network.

Cleveland District State High School is now 100% BYOD.

Device selection

Before acquiring a device to use at school the parent/guardian and student should be aware of the school’s specifications.  These specifications can be found here BYOxV7 (PDF, 846KB).

Warranty & Accidental Damage Protection

Laptops are expensive technical devices and they do break down and can be damaged, especially in the hands of teenagers. It is vital to ensure a fast turnaround for repairs when the need arises.
We highly recommend every device has Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) insurance with Next Business Day (NBD) warranty. You may have the option of adding ADP to your home and contents insurance policy. However, be sure that it covers the device 24/7 and while away from your home.

Technical Support

The school offers first-level diagnostic support for student owned laptops at our ICT help desk.   However, warranty, security, insurance and maintenance is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

The installation of  anti-virus software is a compulsory requirement.  Laptops require anti-virus software to connect to the school network.
