Volunteering

Staff and students of Cleveland District State High School would like to invite you to become involved in our school community. Below are some of the areas that you may wish to become involved, the contact person and their direct phone number. Please feel free to phone the contact person directly, or alternatively email the principal on principal@clevelanddistrictshs.eq.edu.au.

  • Volunteers - Members of the community are invited to assist students through in class support in many areas of the curriculum. This mainly involves helping students with their literacy or numeracy or utilising volunteers' specific expertise. A Blue Card is required. Teacher and Volunteer Coordinator – Alison Reed
  • Library - Volunteers assist in the library by covering books and completing general duties. Teacher Librarians - Ainsley Young and Sabine Gulliver-McIlwain. 
  • Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) - Community members are invited to attend at least one meeting as a minimum during the year. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month in Innovation Centre.  President P&C – (messages may be left at the school).

  • School Council - School Council meets once a Term with a broad representation of parents, students and other members of our school community. These meetings are held on the Monday of Week 8 of each term in R Block starting at 4.00pm.

  • Chaplaincy – The whole Chaplaincy programme is community funded and supported by donations. Members of the community are invited to attend meetings, join a prayer group, assist with fund raising help with in-school activities, become a voluntary religious education teacher or represent Chaplaincy at the P&C meetings.   • C.A.S.T. (Creative Arts Support Team) – An amazing, enthusiastic group of volunteers who assist with the development of all Creative Arts programmes. This includes Music, Instrumental Music and all Ensembles and Choirs, Dance, Drama, Visual Art, Multimedia and Film. Support from this group of volunteers includes - steering committees and assistance with production of all our major events, coordination and facilitation of major fundraising to enable the purchase of major resources, uniforms and resource preparation and construction as needs arise.  For further information or to offer your particular skill set to our incredible Creative Arts Department, please contact the Head of Creative Arts – Mr Simon Watson - swats176@eq.edu.au
