School Council statement
Executive Principal's Statement:
Our School Council started in 1990 and allows a community voice in the strategic direction of our school. The Council shapes and provides endorsement of our school's Strategic Plan and Annual Improvement Plan. During the year, the Council evaluates progress on these plans and appraises the effectiveness of allocated resources to goals. Additionally, the Council assesses the school's image, brand and communication with our community, to ensure Cleveland District State High School remains a school of choice in Redland City.
Function:
The functions of our School Council are to:
- monitor our school's strategic direction
- approve school plans and policies of a strategic nature, or other documents affecting strategic matters, including the annual estimate of revenue and expenditure for our school
- monitor the implementation of the plans, policies and other documents mentioned above
- advise our school's Executive Principal about strategic matters.
Our School Council may not:
- interfere with management by our Executive Principal of day-to-day operations of the school and its curriculum
- make operational decisions about the use of teaching or learning resources at our school
- make decisions about the individual teaching style used, or to be used, at our school
- make a decision that is contrary to law or a written policy of the department
- have control of funds
- enter into contracts
- acquire, hold, dispose of or deal with property
- sue or be sued
- establish a committee or subcommittee.

- support integrity and impartiality
- promote the public good
- commit to the system of government and,
- act with accountability and transparency.
