Cleveland District SHS Instrumental Music Program
Music cultivates in students an enduring love of and lifelong involvement in music. Science has shown that music’s effect on the brain is particularly strong, with studies demonstrating an improvement in IQ among students who receive music lessons. Advantages in the classroom have been identified for students who study musical instruments, and the effects of ageing on cognition may even be mitigated through lifelong musical activity.
Our instrumental music program offers something for everyone, with Woodwind, Brass, Percussion and Strings taught by highly regarded instructors.
To help assist with the cost of buying and maintain sheet music and instruments as well as providing student access to band uniforms, each year parents of Performing Arts students are asked to pay a levy. For more information, see the attached documents.
