Cleveland High is an active member of the Bayside District sport and is involved in weekly interschool sporting competitions throughout the year.
Year 8 and 9 students participate on Tuesday afternoons and Year 10, 11 and 12 students on Wednesday afternoons.
Teams compete against other local schools including Alexandra Hills SHS, Wellington Point SHS, Redlands College, Carmel College, Victoria Point SHS and Capalaba State College.
Premiership teams from this competition progress through to Metropolitan finals which recognise the best team in the Southeast corner of the State. The Bayside District is one of the strongest sporting districts in South-East Queensland with schools in this area consistently feature as Metropolitan East Finalists.
Cleveland District SHS has had success in soccer, baseball, touch, squash, basketball, and tennis in recent years.
Students who choose not to participate in interschool sport have a variety of recreational options including Dance, Weights and Yoga. Year 10 to 12 students are able to access TAFE courses and work experience during this time if required, by approval from their year level Deputy Principal.
Throughout the year Cleveland has three major sporting carnivals in Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country. On completion of these carnivals Cleveland High students have the opportunity to participate in Bayside District Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals. These carnivals serve as step towards an athlete’s selection in Metropolitan East and State Teams for these sports.
